IIUNT, THE FORGER, CONVICTED.-John Hunt, alias Webb, alias Morgan charged with forging a check on the Albany Exchange Bank for $1800, was convicted in Albany, on Thursday, in the Courtof Oyer and Terminer, Judge Hand presiding, and sentenced to be imprisoned in the State Prison at Cliaton, for ive years. The Girls going West -Our city was greeted on Thursday by twenty-six young ladies who are on their way to the West, accompanied by Gov. Stade, of Vermont, to enrage in teaching They remain in town until Monday, and will then proceed to their destination. We learn from the Amherst Calinct extra, that a fire broke out in that village on Saturday evening, which destroyed the store and large barn. together with a shed, owned and occupied by Mr. John Moore. The goods in the store were removed, but the contents of the barn was destroyed. MICHIGAN.- -The Liberty League party in this State have nominated an Electoral ticket pledged to the support of Gerrit Smith for President. James G. Birney of Saginaw heads the ticket. Langfeldt, the Philadelphia murderer, has resolved not to receive the visits of a elergyman of any denomination. He is to be executed next Friday. A Stockholm letter of the 8th inst., states that the works for the formation of a railroad between Orebro and Hulst, the first undertaking of the kind in Sweden, were commence ed on the 4th. The Seneca County Bank, in Tiffin, Ohio. suspended payment on the 26th ult. If rich, it is easy to conceal our wealth but if poor 16 IS not quite so easy to conceal our proverty. A BREAK-Dows.-The heavy "Golde "hariot" belonging to Howe & Co's Circus broke through a bridge in the town of Russell a Saturday last.
