Description

Multiple contemporaneous newspaper dispatches (dated Sept 10, 1857) report the Miami Valley Bank of Dayton has suspended. No article describes a depositor run, reopening, or receiver being appointed in these excerpts, but the bank is listed among 'suspended and broken banks' in later compilations of the 1857 crisis. I therefore classify this as a suspension that resulted in closure.
