THE COURTS. COOK COUNTY NATIONAL BANK. Judge Drummond is engaged In hearing the enso of the CentralTrust Company of New York, na Receiver of the New York State Loan & Trust Company, against the Cook County National Bank, B. F. Allen, and others, to recover about $03,000. The suit is brought on a note of B. F. Murpby & Co. for $10,000, Indorsed by the Cook County National, also a stinilar noto for $5,000 made by the First National Bank of Wyandotto, Kas., two notes of B. F. Allen for $25,000 each, a note of Chauncer T. Bowen for $25,000, and another for the same amount made by D. J. Hubbard, secured by $100,000 of bills receivable, and an overdraft of $4,460. The defense is that the bank bad no power to guaraptee the notes: that the Wyan. dotte Bank, a nou-resident, was in the same fix, that Bowen had no authority to make his note: and that the Allon notes were bis own debt. and not that of the bank. If the Cook County National succeeds In Its endeavor to upset the blanket mortgage to Allen, Stephens & Cu., the complainant may got 10 to 25 per cont on its claim. The hearing will be resumed to-day.
