Description

Contemporary newspaper reports (Nov 27โ€“28, 1929) list the First State Bank of Terlton among twelve Oklahoma state banks that failed to open their doors on Nov 27 after action by state authorities following the death of H. A. McCauley, who had interests in several banks. The articles describe a state-ordered closing (not a depositor run) and note the possibility some banks might reopen, so I classify this as a suspension with likely reopening rather than a depositor run or permanent failure. OCR errors in the first article (garbled punctuation and names) were corrected when identifying banks and context.
