Fact stronger than Declamation.--The United States Bank and its branches, are habitually spoken of in certain quarters, as seeking to apply the screws in order to oppress the community. There have been many evidences before of the falsehood of this charge. We are about to add a new one. The Chemical Bank of this city, which keeps, perhaps, more small accounts than almost any other in the city, of persons engaged in retail business, and of mechanics, has, from some unfounded cause, been run upon for a day or two; upon learning which the Branch Bank, this morning made them a loan of $100,000: thus evincing at once their confidence in the Chemical Bank, and their desire to aid in relieving the community.-N.
