GENERAL DOMESTIC. A Spokane, Wash., man was initiated into lodge with such thoroughness that he is now laid up in a hospital with very serious Injuries. He is attended by lodge members, who decline to give out his name. Governor Shaw of Iowa made a record of pardoning 473 convicts in the course of two years. A temporary receiver for the Commercial Bank of Albany, N. Y., has been asked for. and the bark's doors closed. A Knoxville, Tenn., postal clerk was seriously injured as the result of the explosion of a mail package which he was stamping. A report from Indiana says that a representative of Chauncey M. Depew is negotiating for a 100 feet right-of-way for an electric line from New York to St. Louis. Owners of the Independence mines at Cripple Creek say that "pirates" have been stealing $5,000 worth of ore from the mines every month. It is reported that 300 lives were lost as the result of an earthquake, which did great damage in Chilpancingo, Mexico. The Iowa Louisiana Purchase Exposition Commission has asked the State to appropriate $250,000 for the State's display at the World's Fair. Miss Helen Gould will transform her spaclous home on the Hudson into a cooking school for girls.
