AS TO THE STATE BANK. On more than one occasion in the past two weeks the question has been put to the Appeal whether, under its present management, it is for or against the State bank investigation. To settle this question for all time, the management wants to state that it is against all form of practice that dissipates the people's money, whether it be an insolvent bank or through the carelessness or criminality of an office-holder. The lessees of the Appeal are as familiar, perhaps, with the affairs of the defunct State bank as most people in this state. They were in the southern portion of Nevada when the branch banks of the State Bank and Trust company in Tonopah and Goldfield closed their doors, and they witnessed the sweeping away of the life savings of more than one unfortunate depositor. They know, too, of the carelessness which has marked the management of the defunct bank since it has passed into the receiver's hands, and of the unreasonable and te exorbitant salary which has been paid him, and of reported transactions which he has made, so-called in A the interest of depositors, which would question even the business acumen of a peanut vendor. Through the efforts of an efficient, fearless and able attorney general these matters are now before the supreme court, and will undoubtedly be gone into in detail by that tribunal. For that reason the Appeal does not care to delve too deep into the affairs of the concern at the present time, but should occasion demand, there need be no question as to which side this paper will take. It is for the people, first, last and all the time.-Carson City Appeal.
