THE EUREKA SENTINEL SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1916 # LOCAL BREVITIES. A term of the Eureka County District Court has been called to meet on Tuesday, December 5. Charley Mitchell, the Elko County sheepman, arrived here by Friday's train with two carloads of bucks. Dr. Mabel K. Young, the dentist, who has returned to Eureka, has an advertising announcement under "New To-Day." Judge C. E. Mack arrived here from Reno by auto Thursday morning to attend to cases in the District Court in which he appeared as counsel. Mrs. Rose Davis this week purchased the I. C. C. Whitmore home on Nob Hill, has taken possession of the property, and is moving into her new home. Principal Charles Priest of the Eureka County High School returned by Friday's train from Winnemucca, where he has been in attendance at the teachers' intstitute. Earl Cobb came up from Palisade last Monday and remained here until this morning attending to some business matters. He is now acting as Deputy Constable at Palisade and expects to remain there for the present. Mrs. Adolph Hargis left by last Saturday's train for Burlington, Colorado, to join her husband, who left here recently for the east with several carloads of horses, and they will make Colorado their home for the present. S. J. Field, engaged here for the past ten days in securing statistical information regarding this district, was a departure down the road by this morning's train. He has not completed his work and will probably return within the next few weeks. Clarence Johnson and E. Simpson returned Friday from a several days' visit at Bald Mountain, White Pine County. While there they completed a deal for a bond on the Munter copper property in that district, on which they are arranging to commence development work. Judge B. F. Curler of Elko, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. L. K. Finney, were arrivals here by auto Wednesday to appear in cases that came up in the District Court Thursday. Mrs. Finney is her father's office stenographer and now travels with him on his trips that require his presence in court. The Board of County Commissioners was in session again Friday, engaged in paying election bills and attending to other county business. The Nevada Tax Commission has not as yet definitely set the tax rate for Eureka County, and the Board cannot act in this matter until the Commission sets the rate. Dan Morrison, receiver of the Eureka County Bank, accompanied by Attorney N. P. Morgan and C. W. Ruden, went over to Hamilton Thursday by auto to look over the Rscco-Homestake property owned by the bank, and to arrange for having the annual assessment work done on the mining claims. They returned home the same day, reporting the roads between Eureka and Hamilton to be In good condition. Attention is called to the advertisement of the Nob Hill Fire Company's annual New Year's Masquerade ball published in to-day's SENTINEL. The fire company and the committee of arrangements have requested the SENTINEL to extend their thanks to D, States, the manager of the Opera House, for his courtesy in giving the use of the hall Friday evening, December 29, the evening of the regular picture show.
