MOUNTAINAIR BANK TO OPEN DOORS FIRST OF YEAR, IS REPORT HERE The Mountainair State bank, which suspended business a short time ago. is expected to open its doors the first of the year, according to C. A. McNabb of the bureau of markets, who was here yesterday from Mountainair, returning to State College. Beans, on which the bank had loaned heavily, are beginning to move, he said. Expected passage of the tariff bill by congress which includes a duty of 2 cents on beans, is expected to advance the price at least 1 cent a pound here, W. A. Field, secretary of the New Mexico Bean Growers' association, stated yesterday. He will leave for the Estancia valley in the interest of the association. G. A. M. Wilson, president of the New Mexico Food Products company, has just returned from the Estancia valley, where he purchased 45,000 pounds of beans for the company and contracted for 100,000 pounds more, he announced.

The report of Antonio Montoya as deputy road superintendent was presented and approved. AFTERNOON SESSION The report of W. B. Condrey as deputy road superintendent was presented. He reports that he has a cash balance of Thirteen Dollars in the Mountainair State Bank which is now in the hands of a receiver. He agrees to make the said sum good and the report was approved. The report of the Justice of the Peace of Precinct No. 9 was presented and approved. The Bond of M. F. Baker as Justice of the Peace for Precinct No. 7 was presented and approved. The report of the treasurer of Torrance County was presented and approved, same being for the month of December last. The Board now declares the office of the county road superintendent vacant from the 1st day of January, 1921, until the newly elected governor appoints a successor. Comes now J.H. Maxwell and Ira Stiner and agree to straighten the road between sections twenty-one and twenty-two, Township three, Range seven east, N. M. P. M., to conform with the old survey. The following bills were examined and approved and ordered paid from the Road Fund: Antonio Montoya, warrant No. 4441, caim No. 4294, $51.95. READ RECEIVER FOR MOUNTAINAIR BANK (SPECIAL DISPATCH TO MORNING JOURNAL) Santa Fe, April 1.-State Bank Examiner James B. Read, today was notified of his appointment by the district court of the Third Judicial district, as receiver for the Mountainair State bank, which closed some time ago. H. L. Andrews, cashier of the Citizens State bank at Mountainair, was named as assistant receiver and will wind up the affairs of the other bank.

According to the Las Cruces Oitlzen McEtroy brothers, largest canteloupe growers in the Mesilla valley has just completed a settlement with commission merchants for last season's crop. The firm marketed 17,384 crates of melons and the statement shows It owes the commission firm $1,100. after all expenses are paid. H. L Andrews receiver for the Mountainal: State bank, has announced in a signed statement that the bank is now out of its difficulties and wel be able to pay depositors in full at the close of the marketing of this season's bean crop. Depositors of Mountainair State Bank to Be Paid VUNTAINAIR. March 23. A deal has been consummated between J. B. Read. receiver for the Mountainair State bank and the First National Bank of Mountainair. whereby the First National bank assumes the liabilities of the Mountainar State bank. issuing therefor time certificates of deposit to the depositors. payable in six, twelve and eighteen months. This deal is of the greatest importance and benefit to Mountainair and its citizens, as it estabIshes the fact that Mountainair is solvent. It releases to the depositors certificates of deposit in the growing First National bank. which bear interest a: the rate of 4 per cent per annum The First National bank will collect all the obligations due the Mountainair State bank and liquidate the time certificates as they become due

Kegal. president of the First National bank of Mountainair, acting as agent for the Farmers' and Stockmen's bank of Estancia where. by the business of the Estancia Saving bank is sold to the Farmers' and Stockmens' bank The transfor was made at the close of business Saturday J. Burton is eashier of the Farmers' and Stock men's bank This is the third important deal involving the banks of Terrance county. made within the past two months The First National bank of Willard was purchased by the interests who controlled the Citizenet State bank of Mountainair. the name changed to the First National bank of Mountainair and was moved to Mountainair and merged with the Citizens' State bank. The new bank then purchased the assets of the Mountainair State bank from the receiver of that institution and assumed its deports. making the largest and strongest bank is the county Walter L Kegel, formerly auditor of the First National bank of Santa Fe, is president of the First National bank of Mountainair The assets of the First National bank now total about $400,000.
