Council Will Discuss Assessments of Hotels

Request of Bank Receiver Is Turned Down

At the weekly meeting yesterday of the Bethlehem city council the suggestion was made by Councilman Thomas W. Scott that council take up the assessment classifications of restaurant and hotels. Council decided to take up the matter. Mr. Scott brought out that he had received complaints regarding the hotel assessments on restaurants and these should be rectified.

City Clerk Tice was instructed to advertise for bids for a light truck with cab to be used by the city electrician.

Mr. Kline discussed the advisability of taking the front set of tires on the Central fire pumper and placing the same on the rear wheels of the McIlvain truck. Two new sets of front tires will then be needed for the Central and Liberty trucks. At present the rear tires on the McIlvain truck and the fronts of the Liberty should be replaced and provision has been made in the 1935 budget.

Harry Margolis, as receiver for the Bethlehem National bank, in a communication to council called attention to the fact that the bank holds mortgages issued by Walter Pollitt covering the properties located at 225 East Third street and 228 East Columbia street, and the taxpayer is indebted to the City of Bethlehem for water rents for 1932, 1933, 1934, amounting to $185.00, less any discount. Council was asked to accept the net amount owing on the water rents in settlement but declined to grant the request.
