Description

Newspaper lists (Sept 1857) include Bergen County Bank, Hackensack among suspended and broken Banks during the 1857 financial crisis. Articles report a suspension but give no mention of a depositor run or permanent receivership. Given the broader Panic of 1857 context and lack of evidence of permanent failure in these clippings, I classify this as a suspension (likely temporary) with assumed later resumption.
