Several months ago M. R. Bentley purchased what was known as the State bank at that time, on the statement that it was clear from all liens, and now comes a claim of $700 for which the bank has been sold, and the receiver should be prompt to settle it, we should think, as we believe Mr. B. paid a very high price for the building, and much higher than it could have been sold for to others. Mr. Bentley will probably commence suit to compel the government to perfect the title.
