State Banking Superintendent Luikart Tuesday regret that President program to release frozen assets in failed banks is to be limited to those apparently closed this year. Mr. Luikart had hoped to get about $10,500,000 in federal funds turned loose in Nebraska, with the government the assets of all of the state's failed banks to liquidate them slowly over period of years. Instead, he said, only about fourth would be the amount probably available with the funds limited to the recent bank failures. Only 26 state banks have gone into receivership this year, and unpaid deposits now total not all of which could be liquidated. The Farmers State bank of Pickrell reopened Monday, October 16, on unrestricted basis after being closed since the bank holiday. It is Pickrell's only bank.
