LOCAL CHURCH NEWS Salem Mission Church (David T. Gustafson, Pastor) State Sunday School conference will be, held at Aurora, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Prof. Peter Person of North Park College, will be the guest speaker. Sunday, Oct. 1: Sunday School at 10:15 m. No preaching service Sunday morning. You are invited to attend services at the Covenant church in town. The Lord's Supper will be observed there after the preaching service. Young People's meeting at 7:30 p. m. Evening Evangel at 8 o'clock. Wednesday evening. Oct. 4: Choir practice at 8 o'clock. Thursday, Oct. 5: Ladies Aid society will meet at the Carl Larson home. Mrs. Robert Nelson and Mrs. Larson will be hostesses. Friday through Sunday, Oct. 68th, we will hold series of Mission meetings. The pastors who will meet with us are: Rev. Fred Hall, Rev. J. O. This is the annual meeting with election of officers, and all members are urged to be present. Elim Lutheran Church (Rev. A. V. Thoren, Pastor) Elim Lutheran church announcements: Saturday: 9:30 a. m., confirmation class. Sunday: 10:00 a. m., Annual Sunday School Rally Day program with promotion of classes. The new confirmation class will receive their bibles at this meeting, and an offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the Bibles. 11:00 a. m., Divine worship. 7:30 p. m., adult confirmation class meets in the Henry Erickson home at Uehling. Anyone who desires to join the class is cordially invited. Tuesday, 2:30 p. m., Ladies Aid society meets in the church parlors with Mrs. Chas. Wedergren and Mrs. Richard Larson as hostesses. The Ladies chorus also meets for rehearsal. Free Mission Church (Walter Cahill in Charge) Sunday School at 10:00 a. m. Morning service at 11:00 a. m. Prayer band meets at 7:00 p. m. Evening service at 7:30 p. m. The special meetings will continue every night except Saturday at 7:30 o'clock with the Rev. Wm. Werkhauser, Danville, Ill., as speaker. Mr. Werkhauser will speak Sunday morning. Sunday evening he will continue his lectures upon the subject of prophecy until Sunday, Oct. 8th. Come and hear these lectures. Everybody welcome. Cowan, conservator of the First National bank since March, has been appointed receiver of the bank by the Comptroller of the currency, the bank going into receivership Sept. 18.
