$17,365 FOUND ON IOWA FARM Cash Hidden by Man Who Died in 1932 Is Discovered Marengo, Ia.—(AP)—Discovery of $17,365 in currency at the farm home of the late Joseph Buswell has been revealed by his administrators and sons, David and Henry Bushwell. Their find came shortly after the death of a brother, Charles, who had been administrator of the estate since the father's death late in 1932. Most of the currency had been sealed in envelopes and placed in an old style mail box, which opened by lifting the top. Included in the money found there and elsewhere in the house were $4,070 in gold certificates and a variety of bills, among which were some notes issued by the former Marengo First National bank more than 10 years ago that apparently had not been circulated beyond their first owner. An early inventory of the estate reported by Charles Buswell January 9, 1933, indicated $1,760 in cash and $6,000 worth of real estate. That more money existed somewhere was known in the family, but Charles Buswell did not learn the secret of its location from his spinster sister, Edith, who had its keeping. His death and the transfer in estate management led to the discovery. It is said that County Attorney Gilbert S. James and the sheriff will act at once to have his appointment revoked. Pomeroy Woman Honored Farnhamville, Ia.—Special: Mrs. M. L. Jones of Pomeroy was elected president of the Calhoun County Council of Religious Education, to succeed Mrs. Charles Beacham of Farnhamville, president for the past four years, who resigned and was named honorary president. Two Liquor Permits Revoked Council Bluffs, Ia.—Special: The Iowa liquor control commission has revoked the permit book of H. D. McAtee, local resident, because of complaints as to the nature of the place McAtee was operating, H. J. Roelofs, superintendents of permits for the commission, announced. The commission has also revoked the permit of Earl Andrews, who is under arrest here on a burglary charge. Early Ireton Resident Dies Ireton, Ia.—Special: Mrs. Fred Dittmer passed away at her home. Loses $2,000 Damage Suit Spencer, Ia.—Special: Gus Anderson of Spencer lost a suit for $2,000 damages against Arthur Horton when a jury brought in a verdict for the defendant. Anderson's suit was brought because he suffered a fractured leg when Horton's car lunged against Anderson when Anderson was caring for it at the Asher Motor company here.
