FORMER CITY BANKER ARRESTED IN WEST Declaring that he was being made the "goat" by directors and officials of the Trinidad National bank of Trinidad, Colo., Roy Cox of Springfield, former president that institution, Wednesday surrendered on federal grand jury indictment at Denver charging him with misapplication of approximately $8,000. He appeared before United States Commissioner Robert E. Foote and made bond of $2,500 pending his arraignment in federal district court, according to information in Springfield. Mr. Cox is alleged to have misapplied the money after his bank became involved in financial difficulties two years ago, His defense will be that he used the bank's money in an effort to restore the institution to a solvent basis following "run" by depositors. He charged that directors and officials of the bank were seeking to escape blame for the bank's difficulties Mr. Cox formerly was connected with the old American S: vings here, but moved to Trinidad years ago. His father, Judge Argus Cox is prominent in Springfield and is well-known throughout the Ozarks.
