Finance Group to Convene Tonight

Council Committee, Bank Receiver and Mayor To Meet

A special meeting of the members of the finance committee of the borough council with Receiver Walsh of the Westside National bank will be held tonight at the home of Mayor D. L. Hughes at 8 o'clock. In addition Mayor D. L. Hughes and the finance committee members, Borough Auditor Joseph C. Lister, Tax Collector Fred Daniel and Borough Attorney John D. Masterton will be present.

At this meeting it is expected a number of the recommendations made by Auditor Lister at the council meeting last Friday in connection with the bank situation will be taken up with Receiver Walsh. The bank at the present time is still holding a rather large amount of the borough's money.

Former Fire Chief Jacob Kuyper, together with the entire slate of officers, was reelected as president of the Passaic Valley Hose company at the regular monthly meeting held last night in the headquarters on McBride avenue.

Other officers who were reelected were: Harry Cudney, vice-president; John Hughes, treasurer; John Kuyper, secretary; Edwin Hughes, captain; Charles Ulrich, lieutenant. Mayor D. L. Hughes, trustee for three years and Vincent Mulrooney, delegate to the Firemen's relief organization.

A special meeting of the West Paterson Community church is to be held Sunday evening to consider the question of the Sunday preaching services. All members and friends of the church are requested to be present.

John Kuyper of McBride avenue spent the week-end at the Atlantic shore acquiring a nice coat of tan.

Edwin Hughes, son of Mayor D. L. Hughes, spent the week-end at Point Pleasant.

Bank Receiver Gets Borough's Proposals

Several propositions were presented to Receiver Walsh of the Westside National Bank by Mayor D. L. Hughes and members of the finance committee of the borough council at a special meeting at the home of the mayor last night. The propositions were in the form of settlements on various items singled out by Auditor Joseph C. Lister in his report last Friday night.

At the present time, the bank still holds West Paterson cash in the amount of approximately $22,000 and also a West Paterson sewer bond issue amounting to $20,000. Originally, borough funds totalling in the neighborhood of $70,000 was held by the borough but through offsets
