News Society Women's Activities FIFTY WOMEN PLAY IN EAST HILLS GOLF MEET HELD THURSDAY Local Women Golfers to Hold Open Day for Golfers Sept. 6. Fifty women played golf Thursday at the East Hills Country Club in the annual interclub match at that club. The players were divided into groups, and there were prizes in each group for visitors and women of the hostess club. Mrs. E. C. Spratt won low medal honors for the visiting golfers with 97 on eighteen holes. She made the first nine in 50 and came back on the last nine with a 47 Mrs. Spratt was entered from the St. Joseph Country Club. Miss Jennie Louise Strike made low medal score on eighteen holes among the East Hills players. Mrs. G. M/ Thompson, entered from Fairview Club, won the prize for visitors for the best nine out of eighteen holes. Mrs. L M. Keller won this honor for the East Hills players. Mrs. Luther E. Reid. entered from Motla Country Club, won the prize for low score on nine holes for visitors, and Mrs. J. M. Strike took this prize for hostess club mem- Miss Eleanor Thompson of Fairview Club won the putting contest on the miniature greens, held after luncheon. Sixty-five women attended the at o'clock. Mrs. P. Lawler was bostess, being assisted by Mrs. Hugo Miller Mrs. C. A. Semrad, Mrs. W. H. Toben. Mrs. William Albrecht and Mrs. H. C. Porter. The luncheon committee included Mrs. Harry Smith, Mrs A. Kenworthy and Mrs. J. M. Strike. The tables were decorated with garden flowers. After luncheon bridge was played at several tables. Mrs. J. J. Wisser. women's golf chairman at East Hills Club, made arrangements for the meet In connection with the meet, Mrs Gardner M. Thompson. president the St. Joseph Women's Golf Association, called meeting of the women golfers when plans for the remainder of the season were discussed. It was decided that the four clubs join the association, rather than have individual memhers as in the past. Mrs. Thompson will appoint committee to draw up constitution and by-laws An open day for women golfers of northwest Missouri, Atchison held Friday Sept. to which general invitation will be extended The place will be announced later Interclub matches will be held at Moila Club and Fairview Club, the dates to be announced later. A breakfast was served after the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents The table was centered with wedding cake and decorated with vases of pink roses Pink candles lighted the table. Swimming Schedule. The swimming schedule for the Y. W. C. pool for August has been arranged by Miss Ruth Thayer, instructor in charge, as follows: Mondays and Thursdays, 10 a. children beginners: m., children swimmers; Wednesdays, 10 junior life saving: Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 m., adult beginners; 11 m, adult swimmers; Tuesdays and Thursdays, p. m., adult beginners; 7:45, adult swimmers; Monday evening. 7:30, senior life saving. J., July 25.(P) Temporary receivers for New Jersey Bankers' Securities Company holding company whose three banks in Passaic were closed yesterday by the state of banking and insurance, were appointed today by Vice-Chancellor John H. Backes. Around Town Mrs. T. A. Morton and baby daughter, Thomasine Alice, and her sister, Celeste Clark, who have been in Cristobal, the Canal Zone, for the last year, have returned to the family home, 2315 Francis street, and are guests of Mrs. Morton's sister, Mrs. F, Dyer, and other relatives. Miss Clark will resume her studies at Central High School in Septemmber. Mrs. Laura Harnois has returned from Bendena, Kan., where she visited her niece, Mrs. Sadie Edwards, who is postmistress at that place.
