COURT ACCEPTS FINAL ACCOUNT OF SPRINGHORN
American Bank Receiver Will Be Officially Discharged by Judge Meigs Today
The receivership of the American Bank and Trust company, which suspended operations in December, 1921. was in effect terminated Friday. when the final account of A. W. Springhorn. receiver. was approved by District Judge W. H. Meigs. All documents pertaining to the receivership were placed charge of the clerk of the district court and Mr. Springhorn will probably receive his discharge as re. ceiver today. All acts of the receiver were ap proved in an order filed by Judge Meigs and Mr. Springhorn was instructed to destroy uncalled for statements. cancelled checks. ledger sheets. transfer cases of bank correspondence and loose records. All other documents or books were ordered delivered to the clerk of the district court. who will preserve them for three years. after which they will be destroyed. Items listed under the subdivisions of Bole State bank and Cascade bank were ordered retained by the Mr. Springhorn was instructed to surrender to the clerk all certificates of claims collected from depositors after payment of the final dividend. and all dividend checks not called for. These checks will be retained by the clerk for six months and if not called for during that period will be cancelled and turned over to the county treasurer. The instructions of the court as to the delivery of checks and documents were carried out by Mr. Springhorn Friday afternoon and a formal applica tion for discharge has been requested. Dividends totalling 37½ per cent on general claims were paid by the bank during the receivership and were as follows: Dividend of 10 per cent. 032.22. authorized to date by Judge J. B. Leslie on Oct. 31, 1923: 10 per cent dividend. $122,284.95. authorized by Judge Leslie on Dec. 19, 1924: 8 per cent dividend. $88,458.22 on Jan. 1926: 5 per cent dividend $55,443.63. author ized by S. J. Cowley former district judge, on Dec. 2. 1926. and 4½ per cent. $49,794.09 authorized by Judge H. H. Ewing in May. 1927. The termination of the receivership of the American bank will be followed this month by the ending of the receiverships of the West Side State bank and the Miners State bank of Sand Coulee.
