Bank Quits Business Louisville, Miss., April 11.The people of this city were con siderably surprised Thursday when it was learned that the Merchants & Farmers Bank had suspended business. By previous appointment. a majority of the stockholders met at the institution the night before, and after discussing the matter, came to the conclusion and by unanimous agreement that it was the best plan to liquidate the business. J. W. Cooke, pres. ident, and Mr. Boyles, a director, both of Maben, Oktibbeha Coun ty, were present. Mr. Harris, the cashier, stated that the reason for the suspension was that the bank was not making any money, and as a business proposition they had concluded to liquidate while the bank was in good and solvent condition. The depositors as well as the stockholders will receive their money.
