ADDITIONAL FORHIGN NEWS Further from India Hyderbad was quiet still on the 14th of August It was expected that Delphi would soon fall. Generals Havelock and Neil were advancing upon Lackbnow. Three regiments of the Bengal army Had revolted and fied to Reeve river, whither they had been pursued by Gen. Floyd and eight hundred of them killed. The motineers had also been routed at Juribalpore and other places. Conspiracies had been discovered at Benares. Gen. Havelock burned Beloor. Sir Colin Camp bell had arrived and assumed the command. Nena Sahib's atrocities at Cawnpore beggar description. He massacred 400 Europeans, including 70 women and 120 children. The courtyard in front of his beadquarters was literally swimming with blood. BY THE NATIONAL LINE. [Reports Furnished by the Associated Press.] NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 26. Our Banks and Merchants are impregnable, and are in no sort of danger. PITTSBURG, Sept. 28.-The Bank excitement is subsiding. The Mechanics' bank has suspended specie payment. Philadelphia, Sept. 28.-It is understood that the Governor will call the Legislature together on the first Tuesday in October, to take action on the bank suspension. RICHMOND, Sept. 28.-No bank suspensions yet. The Northern suspensions cause much excitement. WASHINGTON, Sept. 28.-Several cases of yellow fever have occurred at Key West. PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 28.-There is still no concert of action among the banks. They paid specie on five dollar bills till 11 o'clock, when the North American bank suspended, The suspension is now expected to become universal. The Philadelphia bank has suspended. Curtise & Co., on Chestaut street, has been robbed of eight thousand dollars. There is still no concert of action among the banks. They commenced paying five dollar bills, but at 11 o'clock the North American Bank, which had previously redeemed all notes, suspended specie payments, and the course will now become universal. NEW YORK, Sept. 28.-The money market is very stringent, but the banks remain firm in their position. Some very heavy failures are reported. Advices from Albany mention a run upon the Savings Department by small depositors. There is no pressure clsewhere, and the bill-holders and banks are quiet and confident. Rumored Failures.-Clarke, Dodge & Co. and Phelps, Dodge & Co., entirely untrue.Exchange on Philadelphia 10 per cent. Rates for money on street, some cases 6 per cent. per month. The Metropolitan, Republic and Merchants Bank of New York, Mechanic, American, Exchange, Union and Poenix banks have issued circulars assuring the public of their ability and determination, to maintain a specie basis for their circulation, and exp: essing the opinion that the tendency of specie and produce to this point will soon relieve the banks of the present pressure. The paper of an iron and shoe and leather establishment went to protest, and J. H. Holmes, Manufacturer, has made an assignment. None of them, however, are insolvent. J. J. Anderson & Co., and Darby & Barksdale, Bankers of St. Louis, have suspended. The Nashville Bank, of Nashville, Tenn., has also suspended. The Bank of Washington and Patriots Bank, which paid only small sums en Saturday, have now altogether suspended. LATEST NEWS. The Financial Crists of the East and South. NASHVILLE, TENN. Sept. 28. The Bank of Nashville suspended this morning. A meeting of the merchants recommended the Union, Planters, and State Banks to suspend, but they refused. Several free banks are thrown out to day. Confidence is felt that the Bank of Nash ville will pay and have a large surplus. PHILADELPIA, Sept. 28. Bank affairs are settling on the low specie basis. The Banks are preparing to issue small notes. The Pensylvania bank notes are to be received at the other banks tomorow. There should be no apprehension in regard to solvency of this house, nor that they will come out of this disaster with their fortunes very little, if at all, impaired. We can have no reason to deceive our readfriends- all of whom are presumed to put more or less confidence in our assertions-an we tell them plainly that the house of J. Anderson & Co. is abundantly able to discharge allclaims against and resume its position as one of the most liberal Banking Houses in St. Louis. Its present embarrassment is owing, in a great measure, to a desire to protect the credit of our city, and not to any illegitimate speculations. The express train on the Erie Railroad, from New York at 6 p.m. Monday, ran into an engine on the Blosburg and Corning road, stand train ing on the main track at Corning. In the meantime used. the is Tioga A meeting of Bank Presidents took place at 3 o'clock this p.m. After consul tation, it was agreed to all the city banks to extend their discount line three per cent. during the coming week. This, in the aggregate, will amount over three million dollars. Forty out of the fifty five banks were represented at the meeting. The great four mile race over Fashion Course this attracted thousands of spectators. Charleston was withdrawn previous to the race, being out of condition, and Engine was easily beaten in two straight heats by Nicholas. Time 7.45 and 7.47. Engineer barely saved his distance in 2d heat. The Democrats are holding a grand ratification meeting in the Park to-night, with speechca, cannon, &c. Albany, Sept. 29. The run on Savings banks subsided this morning suddenly as it commenced yesterday. The gold drawn out of the Savings Bank yesterday la being returned this a.m. Trenton, Sept. 29. H H. Botton & Co., paper dealers, and Botton, Tiffany & Co., machinists, suspended to day on account of protest of New York paper. The Burlington, Cumberland and Salem banks are reported to have suspended. The East Jersev banks, including the Trenton, more immediately affected. New York will hold business Men complain that if none of our banks discount, it will seriously affect them. Georgetown, D. C., Sept. 29. The Bank of Commerce, Georgetown, which continued to redeem its issue in specie, has come into arrangement with the district banks and suspended specie payment altogether. The Farmers' and Mechanics Bank in George town has also suspended. Norfolk, Sept. 29. All the banks here continue firm. Elizabeth City, N. C., Sept. 29. Telegraphic News. PITTSBURG, Sept. 29th All banks except one have suspended, but will resume when eastern banks do BALTIMORE, Sept. 29.-No change in money matters-5s only redeemed. PROVIDENCE, Sept. 29.-The Banks have resolved to suspend specie payment, yet their liabilities are only 25 per cent. of their capital. PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 29.+The Governor has issued a proclamation for an extra session of the Legislature to subserve the financial and commercial interests of the State. Pennsylvania bank has resumed. NEW YORK, Sept. 29.-Owing to a decrease in loans, specie, deposits and eirculation & meeting* of bank Presidents took place and resolutions passed to extend discounts 3 per cent. the coming week, which will make in the aggregate over $3,000,000. St.Lóuis, Sept. 29.-Bogy, Miltenberger & Ga, bankers, closed doors this a. m., assets ample. Banks in general discounting liberally. Anderson & Co., and Darby & Barksdale will soon resame. Suspension by Bankers. The following private Bankers of St. Louis have suspended: J. J. Anderson & Co., Bogy, Miltenberger & Co., Darby & Barksdale, E. W Clark & Bros., Jas. H. Lucas & Co.--to which we might add the names of several of the oldest and strongest mercantile houses. It is thought the crisis has passed, and that the suspended houses will soon be under way again.
