Nevada, Mo, Aug. 6.-Sheriff Scroghem closed Conkling Brothers' banking house in this city, the Bank of Bronaugh, the Bank of Sheldon and the Bank of Richards, all the property of Conkling Brothers, this morning, under an injunction of the Vernon County Circuit Court. The action was based on a report of State Bank Examiner Jones that the business was conducted in an unsafe and mbusinesslike manner. T. W. Conkling. one of the firm, says that the closed banks will be able to pay every dollar of their indebtedness J. L. George and C. M. BUSINESS REVERSES, Four Banks Closed, Three of Them Owned by One Concern. Nevada, Mo., Aug. 6.-Sheriff Scroghem closed the banking house of Conkling Bros. in this city: also the Bank of Bronaugh and the Bank of Richards, all the property of Conkling Bros., this morning. under an order of the Vernon county court, the action being based on the report by State Bank Examiner Jones, that the business was being conducted in an unsafe manner. A. W. Conkling says the closed banks will pay every dollar of their Indebtedness. J. L. Jones and C. M. Shartell were appointed receivers. New Orleans, Aug. 8.-The American National bank failed to open to-day. The directors decided to go into liquidation. Philadelphia, Aug. 6.-Robert H. Boyd, Milton Parley and * George C. Boyd, carpet dealers, made an assignment for the benefit of creditors. A deed dated Aug. 5 was filed to-day. Counsel for the firm said: "The liabilities of the firm are about $250,000, and the firm have on the books upward of $350,000, but owing to the business depression and number of failures, some will doubtless prove uncollectable. In additon to this, they have a considerable amount of stock." New York, Aug. 6.-Stephen R. Post and S. Michelbacher announced on the Cotton Exchange to-day their inability to continue.
