Bank Suspends. The Citizen's Bank of Sonora suspended payment last week. This is the firstvinstance of a bank's suspension in the mother lode counties for many years. It is only in recent years that our people have enjoyed the advantages of banking institutions. The trouble with the Sonora bank seems to have been that it tried to do a large amount of business with small capital. The invested capital is said to have been about $10,000, and deposits amount to seven or eight times that amount. With a large percentage of depositor's money out on interest, as well as its own capital, it required only a slight financial flutter to cause it to close its doors. It is reported that depositors will be paid in full, but that it will require time to realize on its assets to enable this to be done.
