BIG BANK CLOSED The People's Trust Company, one of the oldest banks in Chillicotha, closed its doors Friday. The bank had resources amounting to $1,026,270. It had a capital of 125,000 and a surplus of 25,000. The cause of the failure is due to frozen credits and to a run on the bank. The failure is due to the patrons of the bank. Many of them would not pay their notes when they came due and others made a run on the bank and a large amount of deposits were withdrawn. The majority of the bankers of Missouri have been good men, zealous to help their patrons who on account of financial depression, have not been able to meet their financial obligations, as a result, many banks have If become financially embarrassed. the people every where treat the banks as the Chillicothe bank was treated, there would be many bank failures. It is in order to give the banker fair deal. As a general thing, the banks are on a sound financial basis and if they are given a square deal by patrons, they will survive. If the bankers cannot collect their notes and every patron is going to draw out their money, the bankers will have hard times.
